The camtono was a cylindrical box consisting of a fixed frame, three movable panels hinged at the bottom and locked shut at the top, and a "lid" part. That lid boasted control buttons and a rotary cylindric piece featuring a handle. Buttons disengaged the locks, causing the side panels to fall open and thus granting access to the contents.[1]

Camtonos could notably be used to store precious metals or spice. They could be easily transported by holding the handle,[1] although they were small enough to be tucked under the average humanoid's arm.[4]

A male human named Willrow Hood[5] was seen transporting a camtono under his arm at multiple points in his life,[6][7] including when Baron Administrator Lando Calrissian told the people of Cloud City to evacuate due to the Imperial threat.[3]

Shortly after the Battle of Endor and Imperial Military's withdrawal from Tatooine, the Mining Collective arrived in the small town of Mos Pelgo. As he escaped into desert, Sheriff Cobb Vanth stole a camtono from the collective. This contained a number of silicax oxalate crystals, which he used to buy a set of Mandalorian armor from Jawas. He then returned to Mos Pelgo and, using the armor, liberated the town.[2]

In around 9 ABY,[8] "the Client" hired the bounty hunter known as "the Mandalorian" to recover a child on the planet Arvala-7 in exchange for a camtono of beskar.[9] Having accomplished the mission, the Mandalorian received the beskar and transported it to his tribe's covert, where he provided the contents inside to the Armorer to forge a full cuirass. Later, when the Mandalorian expressed doubts about the ethics of the Client, Greef Karga, head of the Bounty Hunters' Guild, suggested that he should forget about it and buy himself a camtono of spice.[1]

Wilrow Hood's camtono prop was a an unaltered ice-cream maker. This was noticed by fans, and the character apparently fleeing Cloud City clutching an ice-cream machine developed a humorous cult following.[10][11]

According to Everi Chalis, Star Destroyers were the most resource-intensive ships the galaxy had ever seen, and only Kuat possessed shipyards that were capable of supporting and maintaining more than a handful at a time.[4]

During the Clone Wars, the Galactic Republic Navy fielded a fleet of Venator-class Star Destroyers. The Venator-class saw action in numerous battles against the Confederacy navy including the Battle of Coruscant. Following the transformation of the Republic into the Galactic Empire, the Republic's Star Destroyers were incorporated into the new Imperial Navy.[5] Aside from the Venator and Imperial-class Star Destroyers, other known models in Imperial service included the Victory and Secutor-class Star Destroyers.[6]

During the rebellion and the Galactic Civil War, Imperial Star Destroyers took part in numerous engagements against the various rebel forces that eventually coalesced into the Alliance to Restore the Republic.[7][8] Star Destroyers were deployed during the secret mission to Tatooine,[9] Battle of Hoth,[10] and the Battle of Endor.[11]

Following the events at Endor, the Rebel Alliance's successor government, the New Republic, captured and destroyed numerous Star Destroyers in several engagements including the Battle of Theed,[12] the Rebellion on Akiva,[13] the Battle for Kuat Drive Yards, and the Liberation of Kashyyyk.[14] By 5 ABY,[15] Grand Admiral Rae Sloane estimated that 75% of the Imperial Star Destroyers before Endor had either been destroyed, captured, or lost in "confirmable if curious ways." While trawling through the archives at the Hall of Imperial Register on Coruscant, Sloane discovered that the remaining 25% had mysteriously disappeared and their purported destruction had been falsified.[14]

Later, Sloane learned that Fleet Admiral Gallius Rax secretly commanded Imperial fleets in the Almagest, the Recluse's Nebula, the Queluhan Nebula, the Ro-Loo Triangle, and the Inamorata. These fleets consisted of hundreds of Star Destroyers and thousands of smaller ships. Following the Attack on Chandrila, Rax ordered the Imperial fleets to assemble above the planet Jakku.[14] Numerous Star Destroyers, including Captain Ciena Ree's starship Inflictor, saw action during the Battle of Jakku, the cataclysmic battle that ended the Galactic Civil War in favor of the New Republic.[16]

Thirty years after the Battle of Endor, the barren surface of Jakku was still littered with the wreckage of countless Star Destroyers. These derelict starships were regularly targeted by scavengers[17] such as Rey. The First Order, a remnant of the Old Empire, was also known to utilize Star Destroyers as part of its fleet,[18] such as the First Order's Resurgent-class Star Destroyers, which were inspired by the dagger-shaped design of the Old Empire's vessels.[19]

The Mega-class Star Destroyer, more commonly known as Mega-class Star Dreadnought,[25] was a massive vessel used by the First Order. There was only one Mega-class Star Destroyer in the entire First Order Navy, the Supremacy, which served as the flagship of Supreme Leader Snoke, and as the mobile capital of the First Order.[26]

The Imperial-class Star Destroyer (ISD) was a Star Destroyer line employed by the Galactic Empire after the fall of the Galactic Republic as a replacement to the smaller Venator-class Star Destroyer.[1] The Imperial-class consisted of two variants; Imperial I-class[27] and Imperial II-class.[12]

The Venator-class Star Destroyer was a capital ship used by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars, a hybrid serving as a capital ship in combat and which doubled as a starfighter carrier. It was eventually phased out by the Galactic Empire, in favor of the larger Imperial-class Star Destroyer.[1]
